The Special Region of Yogyakarta as a tourist destination has its own charm with the existence of several mosques which are famous for their management and impact on the surrounding community. Apart from being a place of worship, the mosque is also a place for community empowerment activities. Taking the case of the GedheKauman, Jogokariyan and SuciatiSaliman Mosques, this study will discuss further the concept of economic empowerment carried out by mosques and its relation to the role of mosques in tourism-based community empowerment. This research is a qualitative research with interview method sharpened with descriptive analysis using NVIVO.
